Behold... Here are the details of the news from the front page.
(September 2nd) *stretches back muscles* Oh, I feel like the Pilgrim whose load has just fallen off his shoulders. Well, the prelims are now over and no major assignments stand in our way until we enter Year 12! The main problem of the prelims for this site, though, is that I now have an enormous backlot of photos still unpublished. I usually like to leave photos for a while before publishing them - that is, letting at least a few days pass before putting photos from a certain time online - that way, people have just forgotten the specifics of what happened, and looking at the photos is a nice jog for the memory rather than a regurgitation of what is still fresh in your minds. But here's the current situation: I've just put up over forty photos in the Gallery. But I still have another seventy-seven from the past week-and-a-half or so. That's a little of a problem! In addition to all that, I've just exhausted my free webspace... I've filled up 20MB of Tripod.com's servers with our photos. So I need to figure out a way to continue operation of the site with these space restrictions. However, I think I have a solution that fits everything. It's all coming together like a brilliant Tolkien novel. It won't be easy, and I'll have to-- hey, wait a second! I'm going to keep you all in suspense. Good things come to those who wait. Besides, I haven't entirely figured out my Plan yet! Well, make sure you keep an eye out... preferably two, even three if you have that many...
PS. Oh, how could I forget? Remember to get stuck right into the Gallery for some great photos of the City2Surf. I wish more of you could have been there. We might not be able to go next year, since it'll land right in the middle of our trials... but hey, you'll want to look at the photos I caught on that Sunday - they're definitely among my best. Enjoy!
(August 16th) Well well! Today I delivered a talk at ISCF at narrowly escaped giving a 10-minute presentation on the Austro-Hungarian Empire in Modern History. This is the last update for at least a fortnight, and it's a real big one. I've added dozens of photos - more than forty in total, counting the Gallery and the Jedi Academy - and I've also changed the Classics, as promised, into THE MAP! It's a guide to the site, a collection of all the links that exist on the site that you need to know. Very helpful.
Now, I'm going to go grab some rest and watch my tape of 24. Have a good night, everyone!
(August 9th) Jedis invading the library! I've put up five of the latest Academy photos on the obviously-named page. I've also got another big photo update planned - close to forty photos will be included - but I've decided to hold off for a little while, at least till the end of next week, to put it up... since most people I've talked to haven't seen the current batch anyway. Be aware that old photos are still available here & here, as well as soon here. The next update will bring anyonegota.tripod.com's total to a nice number, 123 photos. What most people don't know is by the time that many photos are on the website, I will have taken about 3600 photos on the camera since I bought it two months ago. So I select about one in thirty photos at the moment. Not too shabby! Anyway, keep your eyes open for the next update. Take care, all!
(August 7th) I've been wanting to put this into effect for a little while now. It's a nice little design for the front page - more streamlined, and you aren't bombarded with huge news chunks as soon as you open the page. Now you head to the Details page (details.htm - this page) if you want to find out what's going on. I do suggest you come here all the time, though, because all the news I post - whether the front page or here - is completely relevant to all of you (unlike TV or newspapers where you wouldn't read everything because it doesn't relate to you). Anyway, any comments on the design are welcome!
(August 5th) At last, real updates! All the ag stress has disappeared and I've celebrated by putting 32 new photos in the Gallery. Details can be found in the Gallery itself (Follow the magic link!). Also keep an eye out for a little website renovating, format changes, all that jazz. Cheers!
PS. The old pictures are still there, but not for long. You can find them on the page called secondgallery.htm - for obvious reasons! The third (current), fourth and fifth will probably follow the same trend, but I'll have to start removing galleries then (for storage on the CD).
(August 4th) My brain is about to split open with extended answer about sustainability and the major components of plant interference. But in my (many) breaks from study, I've come up with an idea. Since the basic concept of 'The Classics' has basically gone down the drain (no-one uses it), I've concocted another plan. I'll replace the Classics section on the website with Something I Haven't Thought Of Yet™. Photos will not be kept as soon as I reach my 20mb limit here on Tripod, no matter how much anyone kicks and screams.
But, the seven-gold-medal idea is here: when I've accumulated about 700mb of photos (some time far in the future... Ramesh, care to do the math?), I'll re-arrange the entire site as a form of archives and burn the whole shebang onto a CD. Then, all you have to do is ask me, and I'll burn you a copy. Now, I'll be making the service free - just like this site - but I would very much appreciate a token donation - something like $2-3, or whatever you think this site is worth - since CDs cost me a buck a piece and (more importantly), I spend a whole lot of time working this place up for you guys. So, please let me know your thoughts - whether you'd be willing to give a little to get a CD's worth of photos, or if you think the idea is the worst thing since Hayden Christensen's acting. Thanks everyone, and good luck for ag!
(August 3rd) You like lightsabers? Here's a little treat for you. A select group of you have seen most of these already - but most of you are blissfully unaware that in recent free periods, a bunch of us have been making a series of Jedi photos (clickity-click!).
So far there are twelve scenes in the Jedi Academy section, but you can be sure that more will be added as they appear. They are complete with coloured lightsabers, super-funky lighting effects, and other digital trickery. Any suggestions for scenes that you think we could add to the repertoire can be mailed to me.
One other note: out of curiosity, I've added a hit counter to the site. You can see it on the left there (the little white number). It says '48' right now. It records the number of visits I get, as well as other silly stuff like page views, length of visits, all that jazz. If you're curious, click on the little number and see if you can decipher what it all means.
Anyway, your continued visits are much appreciated. Keep visiting even if I don't tell you - if not only as a favour to me, but also to keep up on the latest stuff. Some announcements I won't be able to tell everyone about - this itself is one example - and frequent visits to the site will make sure you stay on top of things. Thanks again, and enjoy your weekend everyone - this is Eddie, signing off quickly, before my head explodes from too much ag stuff.
